The year is 1976 and a group known as Klaatu hits the radio waves with a song titled “Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft”. This song left a big impression on my 16-year-old mind. Fast forward to 1997 and the movie “Contact” hits the big screen and blows me away. I enjoyed watching Carl Sagan’s show, “Cosmos“, on PBS so when I found out he wrote “Contact” it was a no brainer that I would have to see this movie.

Today’s image is inspired by both the aforementioned song and movie…

Inspired by the movie “Contact” and a song by the group Klaatu titled “Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft”

In your mind you have abilities you know
to telepath messages through the vast unknown.
Please close your eyes and concentrate
with every thought you think
upon the recitation we’re about to sing:

Calling occupants of interplanetary craft.
Calling occupants of interplanetary, most extraordinary craft.

You may not believe this, but the above image was created using two photos taken with the Olympus OM-D EM-5 and two plug-ins in Photoshop Elements:

If you’ve never heard the song, here it is…
