King Protea

Reblog: Artichoke Snowball Flower…say what?

Thanks to some flower savvy people, I found out that this is a King Protea. The purple flowers are still unknown. If you know what the purple flower is called, please leave a comment below.

Costco sells some pretty, and unusual, flowers. Such is the case with my recent find. The downside is that the unusual flowers don’t have the names posted anywhere. That made naming the post hard, and doing a search has not brought up anything remotely looking like this fuzzy snowball/artichoke flower.

That said I set out to experiment with photographing the flowers I got.

King Protea and unknown purple flowers – double exposure

The setup was done in the garage, believe it or not. The first exposure was shot looking straight down and out of focus as I was wanting just the colors. The second shot was from the side.
